Pediococcus acidilactici MA 18/5M
is the specific strain designation of the clinically proven version of this species of bacteria. It’s proven to be a resilient probiotic, able to survive high temperatures, oxygen exposure and survive the especially acidic environments of animals’ digestive tracts. It has also been shown to survive antibiotics, making it an ideal adjunct treatment for pets dealing with GI immune issues.
Clinical trial results have shown that Pediococcus acidilactici MA 18/5M is able to help animals digest food better, resulting in less inflammatory, toxic, partially digested compounds. Studies have found that the probiotic resulted in fewer stress-related digestive disorders (diarrhea, loss of appetite) for animals staying in kennels and animal hospitals.
Other studies have found that Pediococcus acidilactici MA 18/5M can help reduce digestive side effects of antibiotic use for infections and speed animals’ recovery time. Dogs being treated for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) were able to take smaller doses of medications, resulting in fewer side effects.
For immune health Pediococcus acidilactici has been shown to modulate B cells and T cells as well as reduce inflammatory cytokines when dealing with infections in animals.2,4 A 2020 study in fish given Pediococcus acidilactici MA 18/5M found that it improved their growth, immunity and health status by enhancing metabolic enzyme activity after 8 weeks relative to controls.
L-Glutamine
Reduces bacterial translocation, and increases the protein synthesis of enterocytes, enabling them to increase their rate of self-repair. Supports normal immune system function and help support normal recovery from exercise; helps maintain normal body composition. Repairs damaged intestinal mucosal barrier
